BOOM! is our first featherweight robot built entirely by Team Hydra.
It was built by Andy from some scrap metal he got of a conctruction site. Luke helped with painting BOOM! and decided the colour scheme. The sides are 8mm thick steel welded ona each side and welded to the bottom of the robot inside and out. This means it’s a very solid construction and should be able to stand up to just about anything. It will also do a bit of damage when it hits you and you definitely don’t want to be underneath it when its been flipped by Beauty 2.

BOOM! made its first appearance at RIAT in 2008, driven by Zach (Lukes brother who came along for the weekend.)
BOOM! is driven mainly by Colin, but sometimes Paul takes over.
We had a few problems in 2008 getting BOOM! working properly with a few broken gear boxes and a few wiring issues. For 2009 we’ve replaced any remaining plastic gears with metal and screwed down absolutely anything that can be inside.
